Debra Martin Biography
Debra Martin is a Canadian artist, currently living and painting in the Okanagan Valley, in British Columbia. She has worked and studied on both the East and West coasts of Canada, and was born and spent many happy years on the Canadian Prairies.
Immersion in these diverse landscapes and cultures has provided her with limitless inspiration. The saturated colors of the Okanagan, the drama of the Prairie’s endless sky, and the tangible energy of the coast have heavily influenced her work.
She methodically builds multiple layers of translucent and opaque pigment on her canvas to create vibrant landscapes and still life paintings which exude atmosphere and energy. Her landscapes are characterised by dramatic skies and majestic trees. Her still lifes are very influenced by the patterns and bold colours of fabrics.
Debra’s work is steadily gaining recognition. Her painting entitled “Liquid Gold” was selected by the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society for the front cover of the 2012 Summer Wine Festival Catalogue.
Her work is also among the paintings selected to become part of a permanent Art Walk in the Kelowna’s downtown core.
DebraMartin’s paintings are found in corporate and private collections across Canada and the United States.
